Electromagnetic Measurement: Uncompromising Precision
An electromagnetic water meter (mag meter) uses Faraday's law of electromagnetic induction to measure flow with exceptional accuracy. A magnetic field is generated around the measurement tube, and the voltage induced by the passing conductive water is proportional to flow velocity. This technology delivers bidirectional measurement with absolutely no pressure loss.
Key Advantages
- ±0.5% accuracy — The highest precision available for legal billing applications
- Bidirectional measurement — Detects and measures flow in both directions
- Zero pressure loss — Full-bore measurement tube with no obstruction, saving pumping energy costs
- Wide turndown ratio — Accurate measurement across an extremely wide flow range
- SCADA integration — RS485, Modbus RTU, 4-20mA outputs for centralized supervision
- 316L stainless steel body — Maximum corrosion resistance for aggressive environments
Industrial Applications
Nordia Precision electromagnetic water meters are designed for the most demanding applications: drinking water distribution networks, water treatment plants, food & beverage industries, chemical and pharmaceutical facilities, power plants, and large-scale irrigation systems. Their bidirectional measurement capability makes them essential for monitoring network interconnections and detecting reverse flows.
